Amy Henkelman was named Dominican's Director of Athletics in February 2016. She came to Dominican as Associate Director of Athletics and Compliance Officer in July 2013 and was promoted to acting director in February 2015.

Henkelman supervises the University's athletics and recreational sports programs, which includes 15 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports teams. An active NACDA member, Henkelman served as the PacWest's D2 ADA board member for six years and was involved with the 2016 D2 ADA Women and Minority Mentor program. She began serving as the PacWest's representive on the NCAA Division II Management Council and the NCAA Division II Legislative Relief commission in 2020. In 2022, she was named a member of the NCAA Division II Convention Planning Committee and the Sub Identity Committee. Henkelman has also served on theDivision II Regional Advisory Committee for both men's and women's golf as well as part of the NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Committee.

Outside of her work at the NCAA level, Henkelman has served as the PacWest Conference liasion for both men's golf and senior woman administrators, She has chaired the PacWest Governance and Strategic Positioning Committees as well as been a member of the PacWest Championships Committee. She has been a member of Dominican's Campus Assessment, Response, Evaluation Team (CARE), the Crisis Action Team (CAT) and the At Risk Review Team (ARRT). Henkelman was also intrumental in the refurbishment of the Conlan Center weight room, completed in August 2014.

 In 2022, Henkelman received the Sister M. Aquinas Nimitz, OP Distinguished Service Award from from Dominican's Alumni Association. The award recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service, commitment, and dedication to all members of the Dominican community. She was also named the Dominican University Staff Member of the Year in 2016-17.

Previously, Henkelman served as assistant director of athletics for recreational sports at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. since January 2011. Prior to that, she held a number of positions over the span of eight years at Indiana University South Bend, including assistant director of athletics and interim director of athletics.

Henkelman joined Dominican in 2013 from Colorado School of Mines, where she had served as assistant director of athletics for recreational sports since January 2011. Prior to joining CSM, Henkelman held a number of positions over the span of eight years at Indiana University South Bend, including assistant director of athletics and interim director of athletics. Henkelman's duties at CSM included supervision and leadership of full-time staff members as well as 200 student employees; management of the department's financial operations; direction and scheduling of student recreation programming and facilities; and coordination of game day event management for men's and women's basketball and volleyball.  Henkelman also served as facility director for the 2012 Men's Basketball NCAA Central Regional Championships, and assisted with several Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship tournaments. Her efforts were an integral part in CSM garnering its first RMAC All-Sports Competition Cup title in 2011-12.

At IU South Bend, Henkelman was responsible for everything from compliance to club sports to the University’s Student-Athlete Mentor Program and Life Skills program.

Henkelman earned her BS in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Stout and an MA in Sports Administration from Central Michigan University. While attending Central Michigan, Henkelman worked in the University Recreation department. She also interned at Byron High School in Byron Center, Mich., where she oversaw facility scheduling and game operations and management.
