Cornell Littlejohn is a former U.S. Marine with a successful record as an assistant coach. He came to Dominican from California Maritime Academy where, in his four seasons as assistant coach, the Keelhaulers amassed the best winning percentage in the program’s history. His recruitment and training helped lead Cal Maritime to the semifinals of the California Pacific Conference tournament three times. He was instrumental in the development of eight all-conference players, including NAIA Division II All-American Alexsis Brown.
Prior to Cal Maritime, Littlejohn was an assistant coach at San Francisco State for three seasons. He worked closely with post players and recruited 5-foot-10 Brennan Rode, a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year from New Mexico.
Littlejohn, as a coach and chief operating officer, also led the Solano Elite, a non-profit AAU girls team. In his five seasons there, the Elite produced 12 players who became all-league or all-city performers in high school.
Following a brief collegiate basketball playing career, Littlejohn joined the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. He also played basketball for the Marines in the Philippines, Japan, and at various United States bases. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Cal State Hayward in 1998 and, in 2001, retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years.
Littlejohn is married to wife Pamela and they have two children, Cornell Jr. and Lindsay, and nephew Darryl.
