Alana Aweau

Alana Aweau joined Dominican's coaching staff for the 2014 season. A native of Fairfield, Calif., Aweau is familiar with the Pacific West Conference, having competed three years (2009-11) at Academy of Art University where she majored in advertising. As a freshman in 2008, she played at San Jose State University, where she saw action in 19 games with five starts.

Aweau was a member of the inaugural softball program at the Academy of Art and helped lead the team to two winning seasons her junior and senior year. The former infielder holds the career records at ART U for home runs (21), RBIs (91), and total bases (242). Aweau is second in OBP (.431), tied for second in doubles (28), third in walks (53) and slugging percentage (.568), fourth in batting average (.350, 149-for-426) and hits (149), and fifth in runs scored (75). In her senior year, she was voted All-Pacwest as a first baseman and as a designated hitter.

Prior to college, Aweau played club softball for the California Sorcerers and was a four-year letter winner in softball at Armijo High School, where she served as team captain in her junior and senior years and earned numerous honors — National Academic Scholar-Athlete (2007), Monticello Empire All-League (2005, 2007) and Team MVP (2007). She was also a two-year letterwinner in volleyball.

Prior to Dominican, Aweau was the assistant coach during the Spring 2013 season for University High School in San Francisco, going undefeated in league play. She was also a part of the California Sorcerers Gold coaching staff which placed 7th at PGF Nationals in 2013.
