Dominican University of California Athletics

2025-26: Canales opened his collegiate career with a shot put best of 10.13 meters at the Kim Duyst Invitational, the fifth-best mark in Dominican history. One week later, he improved his discus mark to 29.58 meters at the Wildcat Invitational, moving to third on the program's all-time list. He also surpassed 9.9 meters in the shot put at the same meet while continuing to develop in both events. He earned Academic All-PacWest honors in track and field.

Before Dominican: Prepped at Deer Valley High School under Jermaine Johnston...Was a two-time men's track and field MVP...Earned second-team all-league honors in the shot put...Received all-league honorable mention twice.

Personal: Son of Julian Canales and Ericka Canales...Has two brothers, Joshua and Julian.
