2012: Played in 18 games, starting 17, as a junior. Fourth on the team in total minutes played (1,315). Led team in yellow cards (5). Named team co-captain. Fifth on the team in shots on goals (7) and led team among regulars with best shot-on-goal percentage (.700). Had assist in 5-0 win vs. Cal Maritime on Sept. 22. Had assist in 2-1 win at Academy of Art on Sept. 27… Named to PacWest Academic All-Conference Team.

2011: Named to the Pacific West Conference Preseason team as a defender. Played in 17 games, starting 15, as a sophomore. Scored three goals on only five shots on goal. Was fourth on the team in goals scored and total points (6). Named Coach's Award winner in men's soccer at  Dominican at all-sports awards ceremony in April 2012.

2010: Started and played in all 18 games as a freshman.

Before Dominican:  Prepped at Serra High School. Had six goals and six assists as a center midfielder his senior season in helping Padres to 17-3-3 overall record and their first West Catholic Athletic League championship in 19 years.

Personal: Son of Lisa and David Vella. Brother, Lee. Spent summers playing soccer in Germany where, as a high school junior, he first played for league champion JSG Hattenheim/Hallgarten and learned the German language staying with his host family. Participated in summer credit course at Dominican in 2013 working as director, technical director, sound mixer and cameraman for student-produced live telecasts of San Rafael Pacifics' minor league baseball games at Albert Park in San Rafael that aired on CMCM cable public access station in Marin County.
