Shane Kennedy

Shane Kennedy joined the Dominican men's soccer team in 2012. Kennedy worked with both the men's and women's soccer teams in his first season with the Penguins, training women's goalkeeper Megan Herring to an NCAA Division II best .910 save percentage that same season.

Kennedy was a state champion goalkeeper at Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, in 1972 before winning a national championship as team captain of NCAA Division III Babson College in 1975. In 1976, Kennedy set an NCAA record for career shutouts at Babson, and was named Soccer America's All-Collegiate Most Valuable Player. Kennedy can still be seen in the NCAA record books, holding tight onto the 11th spot on the NCAA Division III all-time consecutive shutout minutes list with 900 consecutive shutout minutes. Kennedy would go on to be drafter 36th overall by the New York Cosmos in 1977, joining a team that had Pele, Giorgio Chinaglia and Shep Messing on the roster.

Kennedy played professionally for the Connecticut Yankees of the American Soccer League. He is now settled in Mill Valley where he has coached for Marin FC and Tamalpais High School while serving as owner and director of “Dominate The Box.”
