Matt Blamey

Blamey came to Dominican from Sonoma State, where he served as the men’s lacrosse program’s defensive coordinator. Prior to relocating to California, Blamey was the founder and head coach of the Northern Virginia Community College Men’s Lacrosse Program (NOVA). Additionally, Blamey spent seven years as the head coach at South Lakes High School in Reston, Va., during which time Blamey was recognized twice as the Liberty District Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2008. In 2009, he had the honor of coaching South Lakes High School’s first-ever US Lacrosse High School All-America selection.

Growing up playing defense in Northern Virginia, Blamey earned multiple MVP honors as a captain for Gar-Field High School. A four-year varsity player, Blamey was selected First Team All-Conference three of those years. He was a two-time Virginia Commonwealth Games starter and an All-Met nominee his senior year. After graduating in 1996, Blamey continued his playing career as a defender and long-stick midfielder with the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va.

Blamey is the former goalie for Team America, a post-collegiate men’s box lacrosse team in the Metro Area Box Lacrosse League. In 2008, Team America successfully captured the MABLL Senior A Championship.

Blamey resides with his wife and son in Cotati, Calif.
