Wills began his playing career at the University of New Mexico for coach Steve Alford for two seasons before transferring to Fresno State to finish his playing career under the guidance of coaches Steve Cleveland and Rodney Terry. As a Lobo, Wills led the Mountain West Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio as a sophomore and won the conference championship that same year. He then led the Western Athletic Conference in free-throw shooting as a senior while playing for Fresno State. He went on to play professionally the NBA D-League and overseas.Â
Wills went on to coach for his alma mater, Mayfair High School, from 2014-2018 as an assistant coach, while also leading the California Rebels in the AAU circuit from 2014-18. He was hired as a graduate assistant at the University of Washington, helping lead the Huskies to a Pac-12 championship in the 2018-19 season and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He earned a bachelor's degree in African-American studies with a minor in psychology from Fresno State in 2012. He then added a master's in education from the University of Washington in 2019.Â
