After playing and coaching in Holland, Billeci-Gard returned to the Bay Area and Dominican University of California. He has coached for over 15 years, starting as a youth instructor at Graff Willem VAC in Den Hagg, Holland. Following one season as an assistant coach at Santa Rosa Junior College, Billeci-Gard was recruited by former Dominican teammate and director of soccer Jonathan Delano to be his assistant coach at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, California. He returned to Dominican to coach the women’s soccer team with Delano in 2006 and was named Head Men's Soccer Coach in July 2013. Billeci-Gard is also directly involved with various youth soccer clubs including Marin FC and Central Marin Soccer Club.

During Billeci-Gard's tenure, while as an assistant or head coach, the soccer programs have produced regionally and nationally recognized student-athletes in NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Eleanna Mendez (2008), Capital One Academic NCAA Division II All-American® Pedro Guevara (2012), Daktronics All-West Region Second Team midfielder Julianna Bratsberg (2012), NSCAA All-Far West Region Third Team selection Katie Brown (2009), and four-time all PacWest performer Kolby Mitnick (2011-14).
 
In college, Billeci-Gard was a two-time all-conference player, one year for Dominican. Billeci-Gard’s playing career extends from De La Salle High School in Concord, California, to Southern Oregon, to Reno, Nevada, where he played for the Northern Nevada Aces, a Division 3 professional team. He also competed in the United States Developmental Player League for a year.
 
Billeci-Gard has his BA in English from Dominican. He and his wife Megan, son Franklin, and daughter Ava Jeanne, reside in San Rafael with their two cats.

 

Mike CarboneMike Carbone
Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

Carbone joined the Dominican men's soccer coaching staff in August 2014. He carries a USSF National “A” coaching license as well as an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.  

In addition to coaching at Dominican, Carbone is a coach for Marin FC and North Marin United in Novato, California. He has been an assistant or head coach each of the past seven years for the California North State Olympic Development Program.

Prior to coming to Dominican, Carbone spent four seasons at the University of San Francisco where he served as the Director of Soccer Operations in the Fall 2010 and was promoted to the role of volunteer assistant men’s soccer coach in January 2011, a role which he held for three seasons. At USF, Carbone taught the technical aspects of the game, did video analysis, and served as an on-field camp director.

Carbone's wife, Jackie, is a graduate of the Dominican Masters of Occupational Therapy program.

 

Shane Kennedy

Former New York Cosmos draft pick Shane Kennedy, a state champion in high school and a record-setting All-American in college, joined Dominican in 2012. Kennedy worked with the goalkeepers on both teams that season and trained Megan Herring, who had the best save percentage in NCAA Division II women's soccer that season.

A state champion goalkeeper at Staples High School in Westport, Ct. in 1972, Kennedy went on to win a national championship as a team captain at NCAA Div. III Babson College in 1975. He set an NCAA career record for shutouts at Babson and was named Soccer America’s All-Collegiate Most Valuable Player. In 1976, Kennedy was drafted by the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League whose roster then included Pele, Giorgio Chinaglia, and legendary American goalie Shep Messing.

Kennedy played professionally for the Connecticut Yankees of the American Soccer League. He settled in Mill Valley where he has coached for Marin FC and Tamalpais High School while serving as owner and director of “Dominate The Box.”

 

Steve Martini
Volunteer Assistant

Steve Martini joined the Dominican men's soccer staff for the 2013 season. Martini has been involved in Marin County soccer in either a coaching or administrative capacity for the past 13 years.  Martini serves as an assistant to the head coach and directly assists in the development of team philosophies and goals for each season through evaluating the overall soccer program, players, and competition. In addition, Martini brings a unique perspective, and provides input and technical advice with regard to individual game strategy and tactics. He is involved in scouting, player evaluation, development, film analysis, and assisting in overall soccer operations, including alumni development.
 
Martini runs a successful law practice in the private sector and also serves as a mentor and advisor to the student-athletes, providing practical career advice and counseling.
