SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team battled through three sets Saturday afternoon at the Conlan Center but fell to Concordia University Irvine.
The Penguins finished with 27 kills, led by Alexis Schwartz, who recorded a team-high 11 kills and 12.5 points. Kali Young added four kills, while Chloe Cruz paced the offense with 20 assists and contributed seven digs.
Defensively, Sophia Bernabe led Dominican with eight digs, while Cruz added seven. At the net, the Penguins recorded five total blocks, with Melena Wong contributing four block assists. Dominican showed resilience in the third set, recording eight kills and continuing to battle despite the deficit. The Penguins finished the match with 32 digs and 22 assists.
The black and gold will now travel to Hawaii to play the Hawaiian teams starting with Hilo Oct. 1st at 9 p.m. pst
