SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis swept Jessup 7-0 Friday afternoon to complete the season sweep at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
Still missing a full roster, Dominican started the match with victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Maria Gavrilov and
Lorenza Foster-Simbulan paired for the clinching point in doubles for the Penguins (6-4) as they topped the Warriors' (0-10) Rylie Maloney and Maria Antonella Cardenas 6-2 in No. 2 doubles. Gavrilov turned around and delivered the first played point in singles for Dominican with a 6-1, 6-0 over Giselli Reschke to take the 3-0 lead.
Deepalakshmi Vanaraja added a 6-0, 6-3 victory on the top court with Foster-Simbulan claiming No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Maya Cooper added a win for the Penguins in No. 5 singles as she topped Antonella Cardenas 6-3, 6-2.
Ana Rios finished off the sweep as she held on to a tight second set for a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Maloney at No. 3 singles.
Domincian will hit the road to face Stanislaus State on Sunday at noon PDT at Stan State Tennis Courts.
