ROCKLIN, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis swept Jessup 7-0 Saturday as it continued its march towards the PacWest Championships in April.
The Warriors (2-11) were playing down a player handing Dominican victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles before the match even began.
Logan Koitka and
Astrid Craig teamed up for a 6-0 win for the Penguins (12-3) over Jessup's Rylie Maloney and Antonella Cardenas to earn the doubles point for their team.
Leading 2-0 heading into singles play, Craig was the first to finish topping Cardenas for the second time of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Koitka was not far behind as she won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles to clinch the team victory. Sofia Acuña claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win on the second court and
Gina Dudley was well on her way to a victory after winning 6-1 in the first set and leading 4-2 in the second with a retirement handing her the victory on the top court.
Deepalakshmi Vanaraja capped off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Maloney in No. 3 singles.
Dominican will travel to UC Santa Cruz for its next match at noon PDT Wednesday at UCSC Tennis Center.
