HONOLULU, Hawaii- Dominican men's basketball squared off against the Silverswords of Chaminade Thursday night on the big island. Earlier in the day, the Pengs got the notice that this game which was originally scheduled to be played at Chaminade was switched to Hawaii Pacific. The Silverswords were able to look past the last second change and outlast the Pengs, winning 84-69.
The Penguins were able to get their offense going with four players finishing the night in double figures. Redshirt junior
DM Sanders led the way dropping 19 points to go along with nine rebounds.
Jorge Ochoa was right behind Sanders in the scoring department for the Pengs posting 16 points with three long balls.
Sargent Jeffery and
Nathan Ilunga, the two big men down low for Dominican had 10 points each rounding out the top four scorers against the Silverswords. The Penguins had a total of 30 points in the pain Thursday night and the duo of Jeffery and Ilunga were a big reason why.
Dominican will look to bounce back and end their Hawaiian road trip on a high note as they take on the Sharks of HPU Saturday, Feb. 1
