SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican men's lacrosse played their last home game of the season Wednesday night at San Rafael High School against the Broncos of Santa Clara University. The Penguins started hot scoring the first three goals of the game which would eventually lead to a 11-7 victory.
Senior
Jason Eide got things going early for Dominican's offense as he scored 30 seconds into the game. The Pleasant Hill native called his own number as he was able to make his way around the Broncos defense for the early goal.
Caelan Briggs would score back-to-back goals after that and before Santa Clara could blink, they found themselves down 3-0 within the first five minutes.
Briggs would go on to have a game high six goals with four of them coming in the first half. The second quarter was all about defense as both teams were finding it difficult to find the back of the net. The Penguins defense held the Broncos to three goals as they would go into halftime leading 6 to 3.
The Penguins scored the first goal of the third quarter, and it was Briggs who continued his momentum from the first half scoring off a nice pass from
Per-Anders Olters.
Kenny Seiler and
Jesse Fisher would also find the back of the net in the third to help the Penguins to a 9-4 lead into the last quarter.
Santa Clara would end up getting three goals in the last quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Penguins defense secured the 11-7 victory.
