Dominican Win Streak Snapped by Fresno Pacific

Penguins have four scorers over double digits

FRESNO, Calif.- Dominican men's basketball traveled down to Fresno Pacific Thursday night in a crucial PacWest match-up. The Penguins were able to have four scorers over double digits but ended up dropping this one 88 to 72.

Senior leader Marcus McCutchen was back in the lineup for the black and gold after sitting out last Saturday's thrilling victory over Westmont due to an injury. The Merced native led the team with 20 points on an efficient 7 for 11 from the field. Brendon Johnson, fresh off being named PacWest Player of the Week for his career night against the Warriors, was second on the team tonight dropping 18 points. Johnson connected on two three-pointers while grabbing a team-high six rebounds.

The Penguins were able to get into the paint effectively against the Sunbirds posting 26 points. Seniors Garrett Siebels and Dale Currie were a couple reasons why Dominican found success inside with their driving lay-ups and mid-range jump shots. Siebels ended the night with 15 points while Currie collected 10 points to go along with three steals.

Fresno Pacific came out the gates clicking on all cylinders. The Penguins had the offense to keep up but couldn't get the job done on the other side of the ball. The Sunbirds never trailed in this one, and it was only tied once.

Dominican will look to bounce back as they host Hawaii Hilo Monday Feb.19th at 7:30 p.m.
