ATHERTON, Calif.- Dominican men's basketball wrapped up 2024 traveling to Menlo for a conference showdown with the Oaks Saturday afternoon. The Penguins would have four scorers finish the game with 10 or more points, but that wasn't enough as the Oaks came out on top winning 91-68.
Jaayden Bush led Dominican in the scoring department against the Oaks going for 14 points while collecting two steals. Bush is known for his aggressive style of play by finding holes in the defense and driving hard to the paint. Menlo had a hard time slowing Bush down and he was also active on the other side of the ball coming away with a couple of steals.
Senior
Nathan Ilunga was right behind Bush in scoring finishing the day with 13 points on an efficient 3 for 4 from the field. Ilunga is as good as they come finishing down low with a nice sky hook, but this year he has worked on his long-range game. It was on display today hitting a trey against the Oaks. Junior
Thomas Oosterbroek was third on the team in scoring this afternoon dropping 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds marking his second double-double of the season. Oosterbroek made it tough on the Oaks defense forcing them to foul him where he was 5 for 6 from the charity stripe.
Fellow junior
Darius Best rounded out the players in double-digits for Dominican posting 10 points. The Penguins will be back in action in 2025 as they host the Oaks Jan 4
