SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican men's basketball returned from Thanksgiving break to put a spanking on the Oaks of Lincoln University cruising to a 110-64 victory Saturday afternoon. Every Penguin scored in this one, and four ended the day in double figures.
The story in this one was the dominance down low from Dominican. Senior
Nathan Ilunga set the tone for the game when he opened the scoring by taking the ball down low and forcing the Oaks to send him to the line. Ilunga finished with a game high 18 points while collecting seven rebounds. The Penguins as a team, ate down low all game as they scored 82 points in the paint compared 20 for the Oaks.
Fellow big man
Sargent Jeffery had his best game as a Peng in this one bullying defenders left and right. The Oaks were no match for Jeffery down low as he collected 16 points on an efficient 7 for 9 from the field. Senior
Jett Snure who saw more minutes due to teammate
Thomas Oosterbroek getting banged up early, finished the game with a double-double and one block.
The Penguins were in full control from the first tip to the last buzzer. Their second unit played a big role in maintaining such a huge lead as they combined for 63 points on the day.
Jordan Archie,
DM Sanders, and
Isaiah Chandavong helped Jeffery and Snure as the three of them would go for eight points each. Chandavong, who missed all last year with an injury, got to show the coaching staff what he brings to the table as he looked elusive in his first action as a Peng.
Dominican will open conference play this Thursday Dec. 5
th as they welcome PLNU into town at 7:30 p.m.
