ROCKLIN, Calif.- Dominican women's volleyball traveled up north Tuesday night for a PacWest showdown with the Warriors of Jessup University. The Penguins would take the first set thanks in part to four aces, but the Warriors would ultimately pull out the three sets to one victory.
Senior
Camille Rivers would score the first points of the match as she placed a serve perfectly pass the defense for an ace. Midway through the set a kill from senior
Ella Heckman gave Dominican their biggest lead of the set 18 to 8. Graduate student
Reagan Macha had back-to-back kills late in the set to wrap up the first for Dominican. Macha would finish the night with a team high 14 kills and five aces.
Freshman
Kali Young who has had a strong first year was second on the team slamming home 11 kills while sophomore
Braenwynne Matthews was right behind her with 10. The second set was back-and-forth with a skip set kill from Rivers knotted things up at 24. The Warriors would end up squeaking out a 27-25 second set victory.
Rivers led the team in the assists department dishing out 22 making it now 18 consecutive matches with 10 or more assists.
Melena Wong another talented freshman was second with 16 assists on the night.
Dominican will be back in action Thursday Nov. 21
st as they host Biola at 5 p.m.
