MENLO, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis tested its depth but lost in a 4-0 decision to Menlo College in a final tune-up before the PacWest Championships.
Lea Mocher and Andrea Vlasceanu led off the match for the Oaks (10-2) with a 6-1 win over
Sophia Portillos and
Antoinette Schreiber of the Penguins (9-9) in No. 3 doubles. Valentina Urelli Rinaldi and Milana Hrudka added a 6-2 victory in No. 1 doubles to give Menlo the 1-0 lead in the team score.
Niederle Franziska claimed the first singles match of the day for the Oaks 6-0, 6-2 while Urelli Rinaldi added a 6-1, 6-3 victory on the top court. Hrudka claimed the clinching singles match of the day 6-3, 6-2 in No. 3 singles.
Haley Garcia led in No. 4 singles while Schreiber and
Sophia Thoring each claimed a set in their unfinished singles matches.
Dominican will learn of its final seeding and pairing for the PacWest Championships on Saturday as it travels to Arizona to begin play Wednesday.
