Dominican men's basketball team hosted No. 5/11 Chico State on Sunday afternoon. The Penguins came out the gates strong keeping up with the Wildcats, but Chico State would eventually pull away with the 82 to 73 victory.

This is the second straight game the Penguins have scored 73 points and senior Marcus McCutchen was a big reason why. The Merced native led Dominican in scoring posting 20 points on the day with three assists and four rebounds. McCutchen was a big factor down low, and the Wildcats had no answer for him. Dominican outscored Chico State in the paint 38 to 30.

The Wildcats held a slim two-point lead going into halftime, and in the second half the game was back and forth. Fellow senior Dale Currie was behind McCutchen in scoring with 18 points where most of his damage came late in the second half. Currie hit a remarkable four-point play when he was fouled on a three-pointer that swished in.

Fellow senior Garrett Siebels was effective off the bench going for 10 points while knocking down a pair of three's. Brendon Johnson and Nathan Ilunga had eight points each.

Dominican opens PacWest play Dec. 9^th at 3:30 p.m.
