Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Penguins fall in final game of season

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Chase Anderson and Anthony Dennis scored career-highs on their senior night but Dominican men's basketball fell 100-75 Saturday afternoon at the Conlan Center.

"Tonight was a tough night for us," head coach Justin Argenal said. "We were battling with the emotions of senior night and playing against one of the toughest teams in our league. We've been dealing with a lot of injuries and I'm proud of the way our guys have competed through all of it, but tonight we were missing the depth we need inside. While we were able to compete for a little bit, things got away from us in the second half."

Anderson finished with a team-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds and two steals for the Penguins (8-19, 4-15 PacWest), while Anthony Dennis added 24 points and eight rebounds to go with three assists. Chris Rossow led the Eagles (20-7, 14-6 PacWest) with 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

Rossow sparked an early 9-0 run with a pair of layups to push Biola ahead 14-4 five minutes into the game. Anderson began to heat up after that for Dominican as he knocked down his first 3-pointer before gathering an offensive board and laying it in during a personal 6-0 run that cut the lead deficit to 18-16 with 11 minutes left in the half.

Maximo Milovich worked his way inside the paint for some layups to swing momentum back to the Eagles during a 19-2 run that extended the lead to 39-20 with 3:37 remaining. The Penguins continued to battle as Anderson through a ball ahead to Adam Parker in transition for a layup and Anthony Dennis grabbed a defensive board on the next possession and made a floating jumper from just inside the 3-point line at the buzzer to bring Domincan back within 14 at the half.

The teams traded baskets for the first eight minutes of the second half before a 6-2 run helped Biola push their lead to 74-53 at the halfway point of the final period. Dominican was unable to string together makes and stops as Biola slowly added to its lead down the stretch.

This concluded Dominicans 2021-22 season as its eight victories were the most since 2018-19 as Argenal looks for further improvement next season.
