FRESNO, Calif. – Dominican women's volleyball fell 25-10, 25-7, 25-12 Saturday afternoon to Fresno Pacific at the Special Events Center.
FPU took advantage of early errors by Dominican to jump out to an 8-1 lead capped by a kill from Corinne Acosta. The lead continued to grow to as many as 16 before
Edee Leslie gave Dominican its first run of the game as she found the floor on a kill and then capped the 3-point burst with an ace, but the Sunbirds had the next two points to grab the 25-10 victory.
The second set started in an identical manner jumping out to an 8-1 lead and this time they did not let up holding Dominican to two kills as they continued to extend the lead on the way to the 2-0 lead in the match. The Penguins got off to a better start in the third set as a kill by
Edee Leslie gave them a 2-0 lead, but Makena Ogas had a pair of aces to lead a 5-0 run to regain the lead for good.
Dominican will return home to host Academy of Art on Monday at 6 p.m. PDT at the Conlan Center.
