SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's volleyball dropped a pair of matches at the NorCal Kickoff Friday at the Conlan Center. The Penguins (0-3) opened the day with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-23 to Cal State East Bay and fell 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-15 to Cal State Monterey Bay in the nightcap.

Tiffany Wong came alive in the second match playing more as an outside hitter to put down 14 total kills for Dominican on the day, while senior outside hitter
Mariah Ahid added 11 kills.
The highlight of the night for the Penguins came against the Otters as Dominican fell behind 18-12, but would not quit. Senior setter
Haley Frederking capped a 5-1 run with an ace to cut the deficit quickly to two while a kill by Wong and two CSUMB errors tied the match 20-20. Junior opposite
Teddy Batinkova sparked a closing 4-0 run for the Penguins with a kill for its first set victory of the season.
Dominican will be back in action Saturday to take on Cal State San Marcos (12:30 p.m.) and Stanislaus State (8 p.m.) in its final matches of the NorCal Kickoff at the Conlan Center.
