Penguins finish 2021 season with sweep

SURPRISE, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis ended its season with a 4-0 victory Thursday over Chaminade at the PacWest Women's Tennis Championships at Surprise Tennis and Racquet Club.

Seniors Nicole Bermudez and Kaitlyn Nguyen put the Penguins (2-11) in front early with a 6-0 victory over the Silverswords' Sky Haraga and Emily Ramirez Miranda. Senior Taylor Lim and sophomore Haley Garcia then clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles over Salamasina Te'i and Marisa Luna.

Sophomore Haley Garcia was a late substitution for the singles portion but wasted no time in making an impact with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court six over Haraga to push the team score to 2-0 in favor of the Penguins. Freshman Zoe Coggins then put the Penguins within a match of the clinch as she too took a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Emily Ramirez Miranda. Senior Amber Del Rosario sealed the Dominican victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win in No. 1 singles over Catrina Liner.
