SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis was unable to keep pace with No. 23 Fresno Pacific in a 7-0 loss Friday morning at Castellucci Family Tennis Center. 

Mariia Borodii and Lea Falentin got the Sunbirds (7-0) off to a strong start with a 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles. Ioanna Lathouri and Alice Di Matteo fended off the Penguins' (3-3) Ofelia Lopez Camarena and Michelle Li 6-3 to secure the doubles point for FPU.

Falentin kept things rolling for the Sunbirds in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win to begin, while Borodii was close behind with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Di Matteo sealed the team victory with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court four. Li and Kamar Alajeely had the best starts in singles for the Penguins, but they were unable to steal a set as Li fell 7-5, 6-0 to Alice Marques and Garcia fell 6-4, 6-1 to Sanne Brull.

Dominican will return to the court Tuesday as it hosts Holy Names at 10 a.m. PST at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
