SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis fell 4-0 to No. 9 Academy of Art on Sunday afternoon at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
Paula Alacantara and Taisiia Andrieieva opened doubles play for the Urban Knights (11-4) with a 6-1 victory over the Penguins' (3-13) Michell Li and
Alex Wartenberg. No. 2 Alma Thell-Lenntorp and Klara Thell-Lenntorp clinched the doubles point for ART U with a 6-0 victory on the top doubles court.
Alcantara opened singles play for the Urban Knights with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 6 singles, while A. Thell-Lenntorp and Maria Andrisani were close behind with 6-0, 6-0 wins of their own on the middle courts to finish the match.
The final three courts were left unfinished, with
Taylor Lim winning the most games for Dominican falling 6-4 in a close first set with Andrieieva at No. 2 singles.
The Penguins will host an NCAA Division I opponent in UC Riverside on Friday at 11 a.m. PDT. Dominican will also be celebrating Faculty and Staff Appreciation with a hospitality area available for the many employees that make a difference for Penguin athletics.
