IRVINE, Calif. –
Natalie Diaz was named the PacWest Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year to add another award to her historic junior season.
Diaz, a business administration major, maintains a 3.57 GPA and was a first team CoSIDA All-West Region selection earlier this year. Diaz was also named to the D2CCA All-America Second Team and the WBCA All-America Honorable Mention Team.
The PacWest Co-Player of the Year, Diaz ranked third this season in scoring nationally with 24.1 points per game. The average was also the third highest in PacWest history for a single season and surpassed the Penguin record of 22.6 points per game set by her teammate
Sandra Ikeora last year. Diaz led Dominican to the PacWest Tournament where the Penguins upset No. 3 seed and host California Baptist to reach the semifinals.
