Senior Sandra Ikeora, junior Natalie Diaz and freshman Julia Razo did the heavy lifting for the Penguins (5-2). Ikeora collected her seventh consecutive double-double to start the season, finishing with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Diaz continued her tremendous start to the year with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Razo tallied a season-high 20 points, shooting 5-6 on three-pointers. Taylor Krouse and Onjalise Carley-Hilliard led the Hawks (1-8) with 10 points each.

Dominican opened the game on a 14-2 run before Holy Names fought to get back into it with a three from Monica Valenzuela and a layup from Carley-Hilliard to make it 14-7. Diaz completed a three-point play on the Penguins' last possession of the quarter to extend the lead back to 10.

Dominican used the second quarter to pull away from the Hawks as Razo started the period with back-to-back threes. Ikeora had layups on two consecutive possessions to push the Penguins' lead to 26 later in the quarter. Another three from Razo put Dominican ahead 43-15 and senior Alexis Price knocked in a pair of three throws to give the Penguins a 30 point lead going into halftime.

Holy Names chipped away in the third quarter, cutting their deficit to 23 late in the frame on a three from Nicole Machado-Potestio.

Dominican quickly ended any hopes of a comeback, starting the fourth quarter on a 11-0 run, featuring four buckets from Ikeora sandwiched around a three from Razo and sealing the win.

The Penguins shot 50 percent from the field and 70 percent on three-pointers while holding the Hawks to just 26.2 percent shooting. Dominican turned Holy Names over 28 times, leading to 32 points.

The Penguins take the court again Saturday as they host Notre Dame de Namur for a 2 p.m. tip in Dominican's PacWest home opener. Live stats and video will be available online.
