IRVINE, Calif. – Dominican University of California women's basketball player Alyssa Weatherd has been named this week's PacWest Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The awards is based on games played Jan. 25-31.
Weatherd averaged 25.5 points per game on 72.4 percent shooting, both top marks in the PacWest on the week. The Carrollton, Texas native also averaged 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals. She scored 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting and had three steals against Azusa Pacific. She then matched her season-high with 29 points against Holy Names, contributing 26 of Dominican's 64 points in the paint. Weatherd has scored 20 points in four of her last five games, and is fourth in the PacWest in scoring (18.7 ppg) and first in field goal percentage (.591).
