BELMONT, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's basketball team pulled away late for a 67-49 win on Saturday at Notre Dame de Namur.
The Penguins (6-4/2-1 PacWest) led just 28-22 at halftime and saw the lead dwindle to two on a Jalen Young layup at the 13-minute mark.
Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten stopped the Argonauts (0-9/0-3 PacWest) threat with a three-pointer. A
Ryo Tawatari layup and Schwartz-Edmisten's third three-pointer of the night gave the Penguins a double-digit lead with under 10 minutes to go. From there, the Penguins used a six-point run and closed the game strong to win by 18.

Booker T. Harris employed a hockey-style substiution system that featured a different starting lineup than the past seven games. Despite the shakeup, it was a trio of stalwarts who did the heavy lifting. Senior guard
Matt Hayes led the Penguins with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and three three-pointers. Junior forward
Josh Ramirez had nine points on 4-of-8 shooting. Sophomore
Reverend Maduakor got the start and had seven points. Junior
Josh Armstrong also started and pulled down a team-high five rebounds. Junior guard Ryo Tawatarti came off the bench for the first time this season and dished out six assists.
Young came off the bench with a game-high 19 points for the Argos. Senior guard Jalani Davis added 11 points.
