SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-20) by visiting BYU-Hawaii on Wednesday night in the PacWest action.
The Penguins (6-15/3-12 PacWest) got off to a slow start in set one. They grabbed a lead in set two but were unable to hold on and a comeback attempt in set three fell short when the Seasiders (12-10/10-4 PacWest) closed the match out on a 7-3 run. BYUH hit .263 for the match while the Penguins were limited to .054 hitting.
Dominican received a match-high 21 digs from junior libero
Amanda Lee, who maintained her lead in the PacWest in digs per set (5.87). Freshman middle blockers
Kate Even and
Brittany Latigue led the Penguins with eight kills apiece. Even added four blocks, including three block solos. Junior
Madeline Powelson added five kills and nine digs.
Kathleen Collette Kalougata led the Seasiders with 10 kills, followed nine from Malary Reid. Ying Chun Chen was one of three Seasiders to reach double-digit digs and led the team with 17.
