Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KENTFIELD, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball swept another Pacific West Conference doubleheader with 3-0 and 5-3 victories over Holy Names on Friday afternoon.

Dominican (21-22/11-11 PacWest) pitchers Ashlyn Moriarity (13-10) and Karly Harris (6-7) combined for a pair of complete-game wins and just one earned run for a combined .51 ERA on the day. Both struck out four bringing the team's season total to 117 (2.7 per game).

Freshman center fielder Alyssa Lanza led the Penguins' offensive charge. The freshman went 3-for-4 (.750) with two runs and an RBI. Freshman third baseman Catlyn Cavender also tallied three hits and drove in a pair and scored twice.

Moriarity handcuffed the Hawks (11-36/4-22 PacWest) in game one and allowed just three runners to reach scoring position. The Penguins backed her with a three-run, five-hit third inning. Kayla Rodriguez, Lanza, and Rachel Ditta loaded the bases with consecutive singles and Cavender followed with an RBI single to plate the first run of the day. Two batters later, freshman Katelyn Harden singled home Ditta. Cavender came around to score when Moriarity collided at first base with HNU first baseman Kayla Simonson. Simonson dropped the ball for an error.

Holy Names took a 1-0 lead in game two with an unearned run but the Penguins returned the favor in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own, also unearned.

Dominican broke the game open in the fourth on a Lanza RBI single, Cavender RBI, and Johnson single down the right field line. That chased HNU starter Nicole Ochoa (3-10) from the game but by then the damage was done.

HNU got a run back in the seventh on a Kaeli Hunyady single to left field. On the same play, Johnson came up firing home and Leslie Mesa made a heads-up throw to Rodriguez at shortstop to cut down Nicolette Soares on the bases.

In the last week, in four games versus Holy Names, Dominican has posted a .50 ERA with two shutouts, a .291 team batting average, and 15 runs.

Dominican will host Academy of Art University in another PacWest doubleheader on Saturday, April 19. First pitch is at 1:00 p.m. at College of Marin Softball Field in Kentfield, Calif. Live stats will be available at dominicanathletics.com/live.
