IRVINE, Calif. – Dominican University of California women's basketball player
Allyssa Weatherd is this week's PacWest Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. The awards is based on games played Dec. 8-14.
The Carrollton, Texas native had the best game in her first year at Dominican, scoring a career-high 34 points along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. She shot 11-for-16 from the field and 12-for-15 from the free throw line. Weatherd scored 29 of Dominican's 53 points in the second half, leading a comeback that erased an eight-point halftime deficit.
Weathered is sixth in Division II and leads the PacWest in field-goal percentage (64.8 percent). She is fourth in the PacWest in points per game (17.0), seventh in assists per game (3.9), and eighth in assist to turnover ratio (1.15). As a team, the Penguins lead the PacWest in field-goal percentage defense (33.4 percent).
Weathered shared the award with California Baptist's Kamille Diaz. She joins
Sarah Nelson, who was last week's PacWest Player of the Week as well as the USBWA Division II National Player of the Week.
