AZUSA, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team ended it's two-match trip to Southern California with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-13) loss at Azusa Pacific on Saturday in PacWest action.
Madeline Powelson had a team-high seven kills and 10 digs but errors continued to haunt the Penguins. Dominican posted a negative hitting percentage (-.021) with more attack errors (20) than total kills (18), seven reception errors, a blocking error, and a staggering eight service errors.
Samantha Rains, who entered the week ranked fifth in the nation in NCAA Division II in blocks (1.3/set) continued her strong play at the net with five block assists.
Crystal Dedes led all players with 10 kills for Azusa Pacific.
Dominican returns home for a single match against Holy Names on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. That is also Professor Night, where Dominican Athletics will honor the professors who have helped the Penguins' student-athletes earn a fifth consecutive PacWest Academic Achievement Award.
