Box Score SAINT GEORGE, Utah — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team led early and had 13 kills from Hannah Stocking-Siagkris but fell 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 17-25, 6-15) to Dixie State University on Monday.

After dropping set one of the Pacific West Conference match, the Penguins (1-13/0-6) took sets two and three. Trailing 9-4 in set two, the Penguins rattled off eight straight points to take a 12-9 lead, fueled by a pair of kills from Stocking-Siagkris and three from Jessica Jones. The Red Storm (9-3/6-0) pulled within a point but the Penguins used 17 kills to hold on for set point, 25-23.

A 7-2 Penguins run lifted Dominican to a 17-11 advantage in set three and from there the Penguins held on for the set, 25-19.

Dixie State thwarted Dominican's upset bid though by taking set four in commanding fashion. A 3-0 lead escalated to 7-2 and soon became 11-3. By then, it was too little, too late for the Penguins, who first lost the momentum on Dixie State's home floor and then dropped the deciding set 15-6, which kept Dixie State's perfect conference record intact.

Maddie Rex led all players with 21 kills on .270 hitting for Dixie State and added 23 digs for a double-double. Six members of the Red Storm recorded 10 or more digs, led by Alex Anderson's 40.

Stocking-Siagrkis had a double-double as well, with 16 kills on top of her 13 kills. Jones and Amanda Wasko added 10 kills apiece for Dominican. Four Dominican players recorded double-digit digs, led by Sari Kwan with 29 and Amanda Lee with 21. Kelsey Lardner dished out 49 assists in the loss.
