Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team was shutout 8-0 in six innings and 11-0 in five innings in a pair of Pacific West Conference losses to first-place UH Hilo on Wednesday.

Dominican (5-33/0-20) managed just three hits in each game against the Vulcans (26-14/17-5), who exploded for 26 hits on the day.

Junior Karly Harris pitched her seventh straight complete game (when starting) but fell to 4-17 with the game one loss. Freshman Ashlyn Moriarity, who struggled with her command early and walked in a pair and allowed a run to score on a bases-loaded wild pitch, went four innings in game two and allowed six earned runs to fall to 1-16. Harris also struggled in relief and allowed five runs in one inning of work in game two.

Vanessa Salinas (14-5) and Ashley Nelson (9-8) earned the wins for UH Hilo. Junior shortstop Rebecca Lee powered the Vulcans with a 3-for-6 day, three runs, three RBI, and a pair of walks.

Junior third baseman Leslie Mesa recorded one of Dominican's six hits but saw her team-best average actually dip a few points to .339.

Dominican travels to the Tournament of Champions hosted by Cal State Stanislaus from April 5 to 7. The Lady Penguins will face Northwest Nazarene University, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and UC San Diego on Friday.
