Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team dropped both games, 1-0 and 10-0 (5), to California Baptist University in Pacific West Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
Dominican (9-45/2-29) outhit CBU (31-17/18-14) 6-5 but was unable to plate a run in game one. A pair of Lacners doubles in the first inning off of
Karly Harris (6-23) led to the game's lone run. The Lady Penguins threatened with four runners scattered over the first three innings, including a pair left in scoring position in the second, then in the seventh inning baserunning cost Dominican a chance at tying the game.
Samantha Talavera led the inning with six-pith at bat that resulted in a single. After reaching second, Talavera was lifted for
Sarah McKenzie, who advanced to third on an error but was picked off for the second out of the inning. Freshman Marisa Cordisco worked a 10-pitch waklk but a comebacker to Jessica Avila (20-10) ended the game.
In game two, freshman
Ashlyn Moriarity (3-22) lasted just a third of an inning and allowed five runs before being lifted for Harris. CBU struck for three more runs in the third inning, then a pair in the fourth.
