Softball drops close games at CBU

Freshman Tori Johnson recorded a pair of hits to raise her batting average to .265.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball dropped a pair of close games in Friday's Pacific West Conference doubleheader at California Baptist University by the scores of 2-0 and 1-0.

In game one, junior pitcher Karly Harris (6-22) took the loss after being touched for single runs in the first and second innings.

In the nightcap, freshman pitcher Ashlyn Moriarity (3-21) allowed just five hits but three consecutive hits came in the bottom of the seventh and set up a bases-loaded walk that won the game for the Lancers (29-17/16-14).

For Dominican (9-43/2-26), sophomore Leslie Mesa recorded a hit in game one and freshman Tori Johnson recorded a hit in each game. Johnson's pair of hits raised her average to .263, third best on the roster.

Dominican faces CBU again on Saturday with another PacWest doubleheader at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
