SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Two big innings by Grand Canyon University did in the Dominican University of California women's softball team on Saturday, as the Lady Penguins dropped both games of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader 14-0 and 13-2, each in five innings.

A day after touching her for seven hits and four earned runs, the Lady Penguins were no-hit by Kiki Sepulveda in game one. The 'Lopes struck for three runs in the second and fourth innings and broke things open with an eight-run fifth inning.

In game two, Dominican took an early two run lead. Senior Kellie Hislop was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a throwing error that should have seen her forced out at second. Hislop then scored on a throwing error to the plate by pitcher Danielle Legee. Senior Shawna Robb, who went 2-for-2 in the game, drove home freshman Kellie Hislop with a single to right center. However, Rachel Santiago tried to score from second and was thrown out at the plate by center fielder Kara Holtorf. The lead didn't last though, as designated player Nicole Upshaw blasted a two-out, three-run homer to right field. The 'Lopes added a run in the second and nine in the third to take game two.

Senior Jessi Saaty was saddled with both losses.

The Lady Penguins return to the diamond on Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12 when they face Dixie State College in another pair of PacWest doubleheaders. First pitch on April 11 is slated for 1:00 p.m. while first pitch on April 12 is at 12:00 p.m.
