Box Score 2 BRISBANE, Calif. — It was an emotional day for the Dominican University of California and Academy of Art University women's softball teams as the two teams participated in "Swing for a Cause" but Dominican came out on the short end of both Pacific West Conference games, 8-0 (5) and 9-1.
Senior
Kellie Hislop's aunt Sue Arrouze, threw out the first pitch. Arrouze, a firefighter captain for CAL FIRE, suffered a spinal cord injury on the job in November. Because of that, Dominican chose to support Kentfield Rehabilitation and Speciality Hospital. Learn more about their extraordinary work at

In game one, Dominican (3-38/0-23) was limited to
Dominique Perry's bloop single in the fifth inning.
ArtU (20-23,14-12) used three-run innings in the second, fifth, and seventh to build a 9-0 lead in game two. The Lady Penguins scratched out six hits in the nightcap but weren't able to plate a run until the seventh inning. With runners on first and second and two outs, freshman
Leslie Mesa drove a ball to center field that brought home pinch runner
Cortnie Chenoweth.
Dominican will have no time to rest as the Lady Penguins return to San Rafael to face Dixie State College on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17 after the orginal doubleheaders were rained out last week. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. at McInnis Park.
