Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team dropped its fourth straight match on Saturday with a 3-1 defeat by Academy of Art Univesity at Kezar Pavilion, 18-25, 25-18, 18-25, 21-25.
The Lady Penguins (5-10/3-4) have hit a rough patch in their last few matches after winning four straight from Sept. 13 to 25, which included a 3-0 sweep of the Urban Knights (5-11/2-5) at home. Dominican started out slow, spotting Art U the first three points and soon thereafter a 15-6 advantage. Two Urban Knights errors allowed Dominican to close the gap to 20-16 but Art U capitalized on Dominican errors, which resulted in four of Art U's final five points in set one.
Dominican righted the ship in set two and came down from 12-11 to take a 19-12 lead on strong service by
Hannah Stocking-Siagkris, who tallied two of her four service aces in that stretch.
An 8-1 Art U run doomed Dominican in set three and while set four remained close throughout, the Lady Penguins stumbled in the end, with three more Art U points coming on Dominican errors.
Four Urban Knights reached double digits kills, led by 13 from Taylor Suchy. Rachael Smith dished out 52 assists.
