BOX SCORE
TURLOCK, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team spotted Western Washington University an early 6-0 lead and was never able to recover. The Lady Penguins rallied for three runs in the seventh inning but fell short in the 6-3 loss at the 10th Annual Tournament of Champions hosted by Cal State Stanislaus.
Freshman catcher
Dominique Perry started a one-out rally in the bottom of the seventh with a single to the left side. Junior first baseman
Kellie Hislop followed with a single and both advanced on a wild pitch after the second out. Senior third baseman
Robyn Ridpath doubled down the left field line and brought Perry and Hislop home to get Dominican (1-26) on the board. Freshman outfielder
Emillie Feenan brought home Ridpath with a single to cut the lead to three but Western Washington (12-11) pitcher Jessica Harris induced a popup to end the game.
Dominican heads to Utah to face Dixie State College for four games on Wednesday and Thursday, April 6 and 7. First pitch for both of those Pacific West Conference doubleheaders is slated for 1:00/12:00 p.m. Pacific.
