TURLOCK, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball dropped a trio of games on Friday in the opening day of the Tournament of Champions presented by Mizuno. The Lady Penguins fell 13-0 in five innings to Cal State San Bernardino, 7-2 to host Cal State Stanislaus, and 11-0 in five innings to UC San Diego.

Crystal Albert collected a pair of hits in the loss to Cal State San Bernardino. She picked up another hit in game two and drove home senior third baseman
Robyn Ridpath in the fifth inning after freshman catcher
Dominique Perry crossed home thanks to an error. Albert and Perry recorded hits in the third game as well.
In all, Albert finished the day 4-for-7 with an RBI to boost her average to a team leading .345. Ridpath added a hit two walks and a run. As a team, Dominincan hit just 8-of-58 (.138) on the day while opponents went a combined 32-for-78 (.410).
With the loss, the Lady Penguins fall to 1-23. Cal State San Bernardino improved to 22-13, Cal State Stanislaus moved to 15-22, and UC San Diego improved to 21-6.
Dominican will look to bounce back on Saturday, April 2 with two more games in the Tournament of Champions against Chico State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
