BOX SCORE VS. SAN FRANCISCO STATE
Rohnert Park, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team dropped another pair of matches on the second day of the Seawolf Spike to fall to 0-4 on the early season. The Lady Penguins were swept in both matches, falling to Cal State Stanislaus 25-18, 25-19, 25-15; and to San Francisco State 25-12, 25-19, 25-18.
Dominican took a 10-7 lead in set one against Cal State Stanislaus (2-1) but the Warriors regrouped, tying the game at 11, then pushing the lead to 13-11. Dominican tied it back up at 14-14 but never regained the lead and the Warriors took set one 25-18. Dominican took another early lead in set two, jumping ahead 7-4 before falling behind for good when Cal State Stanislaus took a 10-9 lead. Three straight service aces by Megan Britton gave the Warriors an early lead in set three and helped Cal State Stanislaus outpace the Lady Penguins for the match. Ria Falealili continued her strong play, pacing all players in the match with 15 kills.
Dominican spotted San Francisco State (2-2) a 6-1 lead in set one before tying the game at 6-6. The Gators responded with six straight points and scored the last six points of the set to come away with a 25-12 win. The Lady Penguins played the Gators tight in set two but San Francisco State pulled away again late, scoring the last four points to take set two 25-19. Dominican took advantage of a side out in set three and pulled within 19-18 but the Gators pulled away yet again, scoring the last six points of the set to earn the 25-18 victory and secure the match. Lauren Walsh led San Francisco State and all players with 14 kills.
Falealili finished her day with 21 kills for Dominican. Fellow freshman outside hitter

Brooke Swingle dished out 50 assists for the Lady Penguins.
Dominican returns home to San Rafael for a Labor Day matchup versus the University of Alaska, Anchorage. First serve on Monday, September 6 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Conlan Center.
