SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team lost another close match on Wednesday afternoon, falling 2-1 at home to Dixie State College in Pacific West Conferece play.

The Penguins (0-5-1/0-2-0) took just six first-half shots while allowing eight, one of which resulted in a Red Storm (2-4-1/2-1-1) goal at the eight-minute mark. Dominican keeper Matthew Carlson managed to block a shot from Tyler Albertson but it deflected off him and Zac Hales was there to put it in the back of the net. The Dixie men were simply more aggressive in the first half, with nine fouls to Dominican's two.

Jordan Roylance added a goal late in the second half to put the Red Storm up 2-0. Pedro Guevara scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to pull within a goal but the Penguins were unable to pull even.

Guevara led Dominican on the offensive end with his goal and three of the Penguins' seven shots on goal. Carlson made eight saves in the loss.

Nine yellow cards were distributed in the game, six to the Red Storm and three to the Penguins.

Dominican looks for their first win when Hawai'i Hilo visits on Friday, September 24. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. at Forest Meadows Field.
