ARCATA, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team had a tough go on Saturday afternoon in a pair of non-conference losses, 14-0 and 11-1, to Humboldt State.
The Lady Penguins gave up 29 hits and allowed 25 runs to cross the plate but were limited to just four hits and a single run. Both games went to just five innings.
In the second game
Lesley Fay and
Kellie Hislop had hits for Dominican. Hislop plated
Shawna Robb in the second inning for Dominican's sole run of the day.
Fay labored through three innings and was charged with the loss in game one.
Jessi Saaty took the loss for the Lady Penguins in the second game.
The Dominican women will be back on the diamond next wek in Hawaii, where they face the University of Hawai'i at Hilo and Chaminade University for a total of eight games.
