SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team dropped its second doubleheader against first-place Hawai'i Pacific University in Pacific West Conference play on Wednesday at McInnis Park. The No. 6 Sea Warriors (25-1/16-1) won the first game 9-0 in five innings and defeated the Lady Penguins (1-19/1-15) 3-0 in the second game.

In game one, HPU posted four-run innings in the second and fourth innings with another run scored in the third. The Lady Penguins broke up Sherise Musquiz's bid for a perfect game in the fifth inning with back-to-back hits by Kellie Hislop and Alisha McKnight.

The second game was a much more even affair, with both teams hammering out six hits apiece. Jessi Saaty induced a pop up to second base get herself out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning and the Lady Penguins looked to threaten. Dominican got two hits but left both runners on. Saaty recorded a 1-2-3 second inning, in large part by two nice catches by right fielder Leighia Fleming. HPU took advantage of a fielder's choice and a pair of hits to push a run across in the third inning. Dominican stranded another runner in the third and in the fourth inning. Two Dominican errors opened the door for a pair of HPU insurance runs and Dominican recorded two hits but hit into a double play and were unable to score in the final frame.

Saaty had two hits and limited the Sea Warriors to three runs, one earned, in the second game.

The Dominican women will be back out on the field on Monday and Tuesday, March 29 and 30 when BYU-Hawaii comes calling. First pitch for both doubleheaders is slated for 12:00 p.m. at McInnis Park.
