BELMONT, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's softball team dropped a pair of Pacific West Conference games on Tuesday afternoon at Notre Dame de Namur University by the scores of 8-6 and 4-0. The games were a makeup from a February 21 rainout.

In game one, Dominican (1-13/1-11) spotted NDNU (6-14/4-8) a 5-run lead in the second inning. The Lady Penguins, batting at the home team, rallied for three runs in the bottom of the third though. Kellie Hislop started the inning by drawing a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and reached third base on a passed ball. Joslyn Caudillo walked and advanced to second on another wild pitch, which allowed Hislop to come home for the Lady Penguins' first run. Molly Howard singled and Analisa Lujan followed with an RBI single that plated Caudillo. Lesley Fay singled in Howard. Dominican had a chance to tie and take the lead but left two runners stranded after that. Unfortunately for the Lady Penguins, NDNU answered with three runs in the top of the fourth to maintain the five-run lead. Robyn Ridpath doubled and scored in the bottom half of the frame but Dominican again stranded a pair of runners. Shawna Robb's triple in the seventh inning scored pinch-runner Leighia Fleming and Ridpath followed by driving home Robb with a sacrifice fly.

In game two, the Dominican women recorded six hits but were shut out for the eighth time this season.

Ridpath wrapped up her day 3-for-6 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Robb went 2-for-6 with a run and an RBI. Fay went 4-for-7 with an RBI.

Dominican travels to Hayward on Saturday, March 20 for a non-conference doubleheader with Cal State East Bay. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
