HONOLULU, Hawai'i — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team fell victim to a tough Hawai'i Pacific University squad on Wednesday night in Pacific West Conference competition, losing in three straight sets, 14-25, 20-25, 16-25.
HPU (14-4/8-3) went wire-to-wire in set one en route to the 25-14 victory. In set two, Dominican (3-21/0-12) kept things close until the Sea Warriors rattled off a 13-2 run to take a 23-14 lead. The Lady Penguins fought back with six of the next seven points but a Courtney Curran kill secured the set for HPU. The two teams played even for the first 11 points of set three but a seven-point run by the Sea Warriors helped HPU to a 25-16 victory and the three-set win.
The Lady Penguins struggled to find a groove offensively, making just 22 kills to go with 20 errors. The .020 hitting percentage for the match was Dominican's second lowest of the season.

Ashley Pittman led the squad with 11 digs.
The third place Sea Warriors were led by Curran and Kelly Balanay, who recorded 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Dominican heads back to Chaminade University on Friday, October 29 for a rematch of Tuesday's close four-set loss. First serve versus the Silver Swords is slated for 7:00 p.m./10:00 p.m. Pacific. Live stats will be provided online by Chaminade.
