SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team lost both of their matches on Friday. The Lady Penguins dropped their first match of the day to Humboldt State (1-4), 22-25, 28-26, 25-19, 16-25, and 12-25. In the nightcap, Dominican fell to host San Francisco State 25-21, 25-17, 25-21.
In match one, a 9-2 run by Humboldt State in game five, followed by a 5-1 run to close out game five did the Lady Penguins in.
Gabby Pecora recorded a career-high 26 kills.
Brooke Swingle added 10 kills, 42 assists, and three service aces.
In match two, San Francisco State was dominant throughout the match. Dominican held a 4-3 lead in game, tied game two at 1-1, and held a 12-10 lead in game three, but that's as close as the Lady Penguins would get before being swept to fall to 1-4 on the season.
Pecora led Dominican in the nightcap with 13 kills.
